Soft washing,explained properly.
Every pressure washer has a dial, and most of the industry’s damage comes from turning it up. High pressure cleans by force: it tears the top layer off whatever it hits. On concrete that can work. On siding, roofs, wood, and stucco, the same force etches lines, strips paint, drives water behind cladding, and can put a roof manufacturer’s coverage at risk.
Soft washing flips the equation. The pressure stays low — closer to a garden hose than a cutting jet — and the work is done by a soap-based cleaning solution matched to the surface. Brick gets one treatment. Stucco gets another. Painted siding, another still.
We match the chemistry to the surface, and we put it in writing.
The three parts that matter
The mix. Detergents and treatment agents chosen for the material and for what’s growing on it — algae, mildew, and mold each respond differently, and so do the surfaces they’re on.
The dwell. The solution sits and works. This is the step that can’t be rushed: the killing happens during those quiet minutes, not in the rinse.
The rinse and neutralize. Everything comes off at low pressure, and the chemistry gets neutralized — on your walls and in your soil. Plants are pre-soaked and covered before a single drop goes up, and rinsed after.
Why the clean lasts.
Because nothing is left alive. A blasted surface looks clean while the roots regrow; a soft-washed surface is actually clean, at the biological level. That’s the difference — and it’s why we document our jobs with before-and-after photos. The results hold up.
